Our Story

This is us, Kate and Ange. We both had successful design firms of our own, and as our businesses grew independently we collaborated together on a few projects. Through these collaborations, we learned that we could better serve our clients as a team! In 2023 we merged our companies to create Collective House Design Inc. Our combined years of design experience is an asset to our clients and we bring different design perspectives to your project. Collectively we have served clients in the GTA, Grey-Bruce counties, KW, and the Blue Mountains.

Our Process

Phase One: The Consultation

Every project begins with an in person, 2 hour consultation. We walk through your space, listen to your ideas, and determine a scope of work. You can provide us with some inspiration photos to support your own vision for your space. This meeting determines the design direction. This is a great time to show us your inspiration pictures!

Phase Two: The Design

Based on our consultation summary we begin designing your project through research, space planning and material sourcing and selections. We complete this with floor plans, elevations, and 3D views. In addition we gather any preliminary estimates. Our presentation brings the vision to life! You will experience our design plan through a storyboard, complete set of drawings, and materials for you to see and touch and feel.

Phase Three: The Build

This is more us than you. This is where we execute the design plan. We begin placing orders, review timelines and budget updates, and complete on-site visits. We receive and inspect all orders and then schedule an installation date with you for your big reveal.

Our Team

KATE ROBINSON

Co-founder & Principal Designer

Kate prides herself on the relationships she builds with each client. These bonds help create a unique and personal design for every client. Her understanding and knowledge of floor plans allows Kate to visualize and create the perfect layout for every space. You will often see a touch of Kate’s love for vintage finds in projects. She believes they add layers of depth, and an opportunity for a story in every space. During her downtime Kate enjoys spending time with her family, listening to music, and enjoying charcuterie and wine with friends.

ANGE TORRIE

Co-founder & Principal Designer

Co-founder and principal designer of CHD. Ange is wife to a Farmer and mom to 4, so she understands the principle of form following function. Homes can be beautifully designed and still allow families to live in them. Her love for people combined with her passion for design and attention to detail is appreciated by her clients. Ange loves researching, and is currently studying European design and living. When she is not in the office, you can find her hanging with her family in the heart of her home – the kitchen.
